Butterflies need trees just as much (if not more) than the rest of us.
Many people know that monarch butterflies need milkweed plants when they are caterpillars. But they also need a healthy ecosystem, including lots of trees for them to rest on during their epic seasonal migrations.
On Saturday the 7th, a blogger at http://monarchbfly.com wrote a cool blog praising our site for its coverage of an important issue, and for our great videos. I'm writing this to thank him (Thanks!) and also to expand all of our thinking about firewood. It is not about any one thing- not about trees, forests, camping, deer, bugs, you name it. It is about all of those things put together. The forests of the world are what clean our air, preserve our soil, and make life, well, livable. So by moving firewood, you are potentially putting a big dent in what is one of the most important systems on earth. Just don't do it!
