About Worcester
Worcester, MA could be almost anywhere in the northeast. It's the state's second largest city, with an aging industrial base, but with neighborhoods that have more of a small town feel. It's got large comfortable homes small bungalows, and some of New England's signature "Triple Deckers." It has more than a dozen colleges and universities, hospitals, professional sports, a bustling downtown business district. Worcester is part big city, part small town, and home- for now- to a foreign invasive pest, the Asian longhorned beetle.
People of Worcester are the real stars of Lurking in the Trees. They have risen to the challenge of the Asian longhorned beetle, and have come together to protect the natural heritage of the entire region from this damaging insect. In this 30 minute documentary, you’ll meet many of the people that are fighting the beetle- from scientists to radio talk show hosts, senior citizens to foresters.
