Quarantines and borders

I've been reading a lot in the news about quarantines in various states- how they are expanding, how new infestations mean new quarantines, and other ideas. I think that the constant shifts in these borders should signal something to the public, and by that, I mean to YOU... you don't want to rely on a quarantine boundary to make your decisions. These things are imperfect, because nobody can ever know everything there is to know about where the bugs are.

Instead, think of it this way; if you are moving firewood farther than a bug can fly, you are moving it too far. That means a few miles is OK, but beyond that and you could be risking the health of your trees. So go ahead and sell your firewood to the guy down the block, or buy it from a local harvester, but don't take unnecessary chances. Be smarter than everyone else, and think about the bugs that we don't even know are there... yet.
